UK technology firm Calitii has appointed Paul Howard as its new Chair, bringing in a leader with over 30 years of experience in telecoms, digital infrastructure, and corporate finance.
The appointment comes as Calitii seeks to expand its market presence and drive innovation across new sectors.
A Strong Background in Finance and Telecoms
Howard’s career spans several senior roles in investment banking and digital infrastructure. He previously served as Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Cazenove, where he played a key role in telecoms investment and advisory. He also held senior positions at Oakley Advisory and Morgan Stanley, focusing on corporate finance and strategic investments.
Currently, he is Chair of Quickline Communications, a role in which he has overseen funding rounds exceeding £750 million to expand rural broadband infrastructure across the UK. He also sits on the board of Bigblu Broadband, an AIM-listed satellite and wireless broadband provider.
Calitii’s Growth Strategy
The appointment signals Calitii’s ambition to scale operations and drive further investment in the digital sector. The company is positioning itself for expansion into new markets, with Howard’s expertise expected to play a crucial role in securing strategic funding and accelerating growth.
Patrick O’Connor, CEO of Calitii, welcomed Howard’s appointment, emphasising his track record in scaling businesses and securing investment.
“We are delighted to welcome Paul to our senior team. His expertise in telecoms, investment, and digital infrastructure will be invaluable as we continue to grow,” O’Connor said.
A Changing Digital Landscape
The move comes as demand for digital infrastructure investment continues to rise, particularly in sectors such as broadband expansion, data security, and emerging technologies. Industry analysts say Howard’s experience in financing and growing telecoms businesses will help Calitii capitalise on these opportunities.
His role at Quickline, where he helped secure substantial investment for rural broadband projects, aligns with Calitii’s vision for expanding connectivity solutions and leveraging emerging digital technologies.
Industry-Wide Implications
Calitii’s decision to bring in a high-profile industry figure highlights the increasing competition among UK technology firms to attract top talent and investment. With expanding digital infrastructure a key priority for both government and private sector investors, companies like Calitii are seeking experienced leadership to navigate a fast-changing market.
Howard’s leadership is expected to strengthen Calitii’s position as a key player in the UK tech sector, ensuring it is well-placed to secure new opportunities in telecoms and beyond.
His appointment takes effect immediately.
