Aspiring entrepreneurs in Leeds are being invited to attend a business workshop designed to enhance their storytelling skills. Unity Enterprise (UE), the not-for-profit arm of Unity Homes and Enterprise, is hosting the event as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.
The workshop, titled Storytelling for Business: What is Your Story?, will take place next Tuesday, 21 January, at Leeds Media Centre in Chapeltown, running from 10 am to 12 pm.
Leading the session will be public speaking expert Pol Donald Nkana Nkana, who aims to help participants craft compelling narratives to engage business audiences. Mr Nkana Nkana is well-known for his dynamic speaking style and has recently presented at the same venue with his workshop, A Cup of Confidence, which encouraged attendees to discover their potential as public speakers.
Adrian Green, Unity Enterprise Manager, described the impact of the earlier workshop. “Pol demonstrated his expertise as an outstanding public speaker during A Cup of Confidence, inspiring a packed room of aspiring entrepreneurs,” he said. “The upcoming storytelling masterclass promises to be just as engaging, and spaces are filling quickly.”
Unity Enterprise, established in 2000, is a subsidiary of BME housing association Unity Homes and Enterprise, which provides over 1,386 affordable properties in Leeds and Kirklees. The organisation is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs, particularly in underserved communities, by offering resources and events aimed at developing business skills.
Cedric Boston, Chief Executive of Unity Homes and Enterprise, emphasised the importance of these workshops. “Pol’s personal story is both fascinating and inspiring. At the first session, he used his experiences to demonstrate the transformative power of effective public speaking,” he said. “We’re excited about the upcoming event, where attendees will have the opportunity to share their own business journeys.”
Mr Boston highlighted Unity’s mission to support entrepreneurs from hard-to-reach communities. “Our goal is to help people gain new skills and establish their own businesses. These workshops are a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to connect, learn, and grow,” he added.
The workshops are part of a series of events planned by Unity Enterprise to mark its 25th anniversary. More initiatives aimed at supporting local businesses and fostering entrepreneurial talent are expected to be announced in the coming months.
Attendees at next week’s session will not only learn valuable skills but also have the opportunity to network with fellow entrepreneurs in a supportive environment.
