VitrA Tiles has officially launched its Aksaray solar power plant, marking a major step in its commitment to green energy.
As a leading company in the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles is making significant strides in sustainable energy adoption. The completion of the Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the 3.5 MW rooftop solar power plant commissioned in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this latest investment will ensure that more than 50% of the electricity used in its Turkish operations this year comes from renewable energy sources.
Contributing to a Cleaner Future
The Aksaray SPP is designed to produce enough electricity to power approximately 19,700 households annually. Equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, the plant is expected to cut carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu reiterated the company’s commitment to sustainability, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
The construction of the Aksaray SPP began in April 2024, with electricity generation commencing in February 2025 after the successful completion of PV module installations, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This initiative not only brings economic and environmental advantages but also plays a key role in shaping the industry’s renewable energy transition.
